2019 festival merch - stickers, patches, pins, t-shirts and ad materials
THE STORY
The Calgary Folk Music Festival tasked us with refreshing their longstanding wordmark. The refreshed type lived alongside custom illustrations as letterpress postcards and on all future festival branding.
We were also honoured to be chosen to design the poster for the 40th anniversary year of the CFMF as well as their winter festival, Block Heater. The design was rolled out across numerous physical pieces on site at the festival and in the merch tent.
The original CFMF logo had a fabricated wood type aesethtic. For the re-fresh we used actual wood type to create authentic ink-on-paper texture, in line with the spirit of the original. The hand printed logo still keeps it’s folksy vibe but is refined with more considered spacing and sizing.
The summer poster design was rolled out into numerous touch points on site during the festival, from signage to volunteer t-shirts and merch. We also created hand printed letterpress postcards that were sold as merch and given as “thank you’s” to festival supporters.
